Who runs this

I am Benjamin Starostka Jakobsen, a DevOps and research engineer. starostka.io and its subdomains are my personal platform. I run it on my own machines for myself, my family, my friends and the people I work with. It is not a business, and nothing here is for sale. Under GDPR I am the data controller, so your data is my responsibility.

What I keep

  • When you read the site or the blog: ordinary request logs, kept for a short time so I can see when something breaks. Like most web servers, they can include your IP address and browser. There is no tracker, no analytics and no advertising.
  • In your browser: your light or dark choice, and whether keyboard shortcuts are on. These stay in your browser's local storage and are never sent to me.
  • When you have an account: the email address and name that sign-in gives the app, and what you put into the apps, such as notes, tasks, budgets and files.
  • When you connect a service yourself, for example a bank through an account-aggregation service: the credentials and data that the connection needs. Nothing connects unless you set it up.

What I do with it

I use it to run the apps for you, and for nothing else. I never sell it, and there is no advertising or profiling anywhere on the platform.

Who else sees it

The hosting my servers run on, and any service you connected yourself. Those follow their own terms, and only for what you switched on. Nobody else gets your data.

Where it lives

On machines I own and run myself. Sign-in goes through single sign-on, and only accounts I created can get in. Traffic uses HTTPS, and secrets are encrypted at rest. I am one person, not a security team, so I keep the number of people with access small. No system is perfectly safe.

Your data, your call

Your data stays as long as your account does. Ask me and I will export it, correct it or delete it. You do not need a reason. When you remove a connected service, its stored credentials go with it.

Changes

I update this page when the apps change. The date at the top is the last change.

Single-key shortcuts can be turned off in the launcher. Ctrl K keeps working.
